Treating Colds and Flus the Natural Way
by Jim Reinhart
First of all, keep warm inside and out. Cover up the pores of your skin, especially after a workout or a warm shower. Cold bugs look for ways to enter open pores. Also, keep your head and neck free from cold drafts, such as open windows. Keep the digestive system warm with warm food, rather than cold raw ones, or cold drinks, and boost the immune system by eating healthy, nutritional foods.
At the first signs of chills, sinus congestion, or achiness, drink hot ginger tea. Ginger root can be purchased at any grocery store. Grate about an inch of the root, boil in water for about 15 minutes, and dilute by 50% with water and drink 2-3 times a day. The root can be frozen for future use. In addition, eat chicken soup, take hot baths and showers and get lots of rest. A bland diet for a couple of days helps the body to focus on dealling with the cold-bug and not on digesting complex foods.
